Marine Habitats and Fisheries Impacts
Tuesday 13th October 2020
The webinar presents work that has been carried out within four organisations to develop tools and research studies on fisheries impacts on marine habitats in the UK. It focuses on how these tools have been used to inform decision making within MPAs and fisheries management.
The case studies are presented by Declan Tobin from the JNCC (offshore fisheries management); Dr Matt Ashley from the University of Plymouth (habitat sensitivity and ecosystem services in Isles of Scilly); Dr Philip Haupt from Kent and Essex IFCA (Natural England’s benthic habitat sensitivity model) and Prof Jan Hiddink from Bangor University (benthic impacts tool to assess impact of bottom towed fishing gear).
